Century of Progress Home Tour 2010
Thanks to all of you who participated in our 2009 tour. It was a great weekend!
I've already had people asking about this year's tour, so I thought I'd get the information out there.
The 2010 tour will take place the weekend of October 22 - 24, 2010. It is the 75th anniversary of the relocation of these homes from the site of the World's Fair in Chicago to their current location in Indiana.
One thing you should know: I have been told that there will be NO day-of ticket sales for future tours. I know in past years we have encouraged advanced sales and then allowed for day-of sales. However, it was stressed to me that in 2010, if someone shows up the day of the tour with no ticket, there will be no way for them to go on the tour. I am saddened by this decision. So please make sure you get your tickets in advance so you won't be turned away!
More information will be posted as it is available, or feel free to call the office for more information as it gets closer. 574.232.4534

Final 2009 Tour Information
With the end of the working day on Friday quickly approaching, I thought I'd post one final note, knowing that many of you are still interested in obtaining tickets for the Century of Progress tour this weekend.
I am no longer taking advance purchases of tickets, but you can still obtain tickets. Here's how:
1. Go to the South Shore train depot in Beverly Shores between the hours of (Central time) 12:00 - 2:15, Saturday, October 10, or 10:00 - 1:30 Sunday, October 11.

It is located at 525 Broadway St. just north of the intersection of Broadway & US 12 in Beverly Shores, Indiana. Hint: it's right by the railroad tracks. Here's a photo of the depot to help you find what you're looking for.
2. Pay $15 per person with cash or check.
3. Wait for the big yellow school bus which will pick you up and bring you to the registration table in front of the homes. Here you will exchange your ticket for a bracelet, which is what will let you into the 5 homes on the tour.
4. When finished, catch the bus at the registration table which will take you back to your vehicle at the depot.
If you are unable to attend the Century of Progress Home Tour this year, I am pleased to announce we will be having another one in October of 2010, celebrating the 75th anniversary of the homes being brought to Beverly Shores.
If you come to the tour Sunday, be sure you say hi to me. I'll be at the Cypress Log Cabin, and I'd love to meet you!

Latest Tour Update - October 6th
Thank you all for your interest in this year's Century of Progress Tour!
Here is important information to know.
To purchase advance tickets (you can still do this through Thursday, Oct. 8):
Please speak slowly, clearly, and loudly so I can get your necessary information.
Here's the final list of tours we have available (all times are Central):
Saturday: 12:00, 12:30, 1:00, 1:30, 2:00, 2:15
Sunday: 10:00, 10:30, 11:00, 11:30, 12:00, 12:30, 1:00, 1:15, 1:30
Sunday has more space than Saturday, so I would prefer more registrations for Sunday just so the day doesn't drag out. Times that are bolded are tours that I would really like to get more people on, so if you are available for those tours, you will become my best friend! Incentive?!?
Advance ticket sales require credit card information over the phone to reserve spaces.
For Day-of ticket sales (yes, I am happy to announce that we will be able to offer tickets in Beverly Shores both Saturday and Sunday), the train depot will be open during 12:00 - 2:15 Saturday and 10:00 - 1:30 Sunday. Tickets the day of will need to be purchased with cash or check.
The depot of Beverly Shores is located at 525 Broadway, north of the intersection of US 12 and Broadway.
Parking information: if you purchase advance tickets, I will provide parking information to you. If you buy tickets the day of, there is limited parking available at the depot. We do recommend reserving your tickets in advance.
All tickets are $15 per person (children 6 and under, no charge). If you do decide to contact me to purchase tickets, let me know you read about it on this blog!
